Which to buy?
Prusa Explorer is a very popular open source reprap model. It’s strenght lies in it’s open reprap design concept. Components can simply be taken off and new design ideas screwed on. So it lends itself to serious tinkering. But in kit form it has over 680 componets that need to be fitten and soldered. So it is best bought by advanced users and engineers.
If you need a low-cost prusa- but are put off by the complex Prusa building process, simply order the quick build version. Just plug pre-soldered and pretested wires into numbered sockets and screw a few parts together- and Bingo! you are printing….
It the budget stretches, then buy a ready-to-run Prusa and use it right out of the box…
Allstar Cannonball is a professional looking unit and aspires to be a professional tool- for style conscious, serious heavy duty users. It makes printing easier due to it’s design concept. Starting prints, changing filament colours and generally workign with the unit is very easy.
You can buy the Allstar as an economical kit- but you will need to be an advanced hobby user or engineer to build it.
If the budget stretched the fully build version is of course working out of the box and is the right choice for busy professionals needing to turn their CAD designs into functional parts.
2 or more colour printing is not reliable at this stage. But… all our models have extention plugs on the electronics and all print heads can be replaced for colour priont heads – when this technology is available. So all our models are quite futureproof.
If you need to have a second colour or need to print a very large object, just use a tried-and-proven work-around technique.

Which model is better ?
We believe that every user deserves the best and whilst the Allstar- due to it’s mechanics is producing a finer print at a faster speed, a well calibrated Prusa can match the quality of an Allstar-produced part, in the hands of an experienced 3DPrinter.
Technically, we try to have compatibillity between all our models. So, if you know how to use a Prusa, you can easily switrch to an Allstar model.
Our lower priced units appeal more to technically handy users whilst the ready-to-run units appeal more to time poor designers, engineers and teachers.
Kits provide a more demanding, but ultimately very satisfying, very steep learning experience whilst getting a fully working unit turns your ideas into reality almost instantly.
Prusa quick build DIY kit. Build it in under 60 minutes…
All our products are engineered and quality tested during manufacture.
